Veterinary Receptionist City Vets | Waterford City Part-Time or Full-time | 30-40 Hours per Week Salary €29,434 FTE Be the Friendly Face of a Busy Veterinary Practice City Vets is looking for a warm, organised and customer-focused Receptionist to join our friendly small animal practice in the heart of Waterford City. As the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive experience from the moment they walk through the door. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. Whether you already have experience in a veterinary setting or come from a strong customer service or administration background, you'll be joining a supportive team that is committed to helping you learn, develop and succeed. A Varied Role Where No Two Days Are the Same Veterinary reception is about much more than answering phones. Every day brings something different, making this a rewarding role for someone who enjoys variety and being at the centre of a busy practice. You'll welcome clients and their pets, manage appointments, answer telephone and email enquiries, process payments and support the day-to-day administration of the clinic. You will be responsible for keeping appointment diaries running smoothly, checking clients in for consultations, assisting with stock control, processing deliveries and ensuring the reception area remains welcoming and professional. You will also learn how to triage urgent enquiries and emergencies, with full training provided, helping to ensure patients receive timely care when it matters most. Alongside this, you'll develop knowledge of veterinary products and services, enabling you to confidently assist clients with their questions and provide an excellent standard of customer care. This is a busy front-of-house role where strong organisation, attention to detail and a calm approach are essential. Join a Supportive and Experienced Team At City Vets, we're proud of the welcoming culture we've built and the strong relationships we have with our clients and community. You'll be joining a dedicated team of four Veterinary Surgeons, four Veterinary Nurses and Receptionist who all work together to deliver outstanding care. Collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do, and you'll be supported by colleagues who genuinely enjoy helping one another succeed. We are a progressive small animal practice with a loyal client base and a varied caseload. Our services include routine preventative healthcare, dentistry, ultrasonography, soft tissue procedures and minor orthopaedic surgery, alongside busy veterinary and nurse consultation services. As part of a wider veterinary network, we also work closely with our sister clinic, The Pet Hospital Waterford, allowing both teams to collaborate and support one another to achieve the best outcomes for patients, clients and colleagues. Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and can provide a professional, compassionate and reassuring presence for clients visiting the practice. Previous experience within reception, customer service or administration is essential, while experience within a veterinary or animal-related environment would be advantageous but is not required. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. The successful candidate will be confident using computer systems, able to manage multiple tasks at once and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability and a genuine passion for helping people are key qualities for success in this role. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and takes pride in delivering exceptional service every day. Flexibility and Work-Life Balance We are open to both part-time and full-time applications and can offer between 30 and 40 hours per week, depending on the successful candidate's preferences and availability. The practice is open Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 6.00pm, with shifts typically worked within these hours on a rota basis. A minimum of approximately 34 hours per week is preferred, although we are happy to discuss flexibility for the right person. Importantly, there are no weekend shifts, no bank holiday commitments and no out-of-hours requirements, allowing you to enjoy an excellent work-life balance.
